Crestmont West launches new show home parade

- JOSH SKAPIN

A new stretch of a scenic southwest Calgary community is showcasing the first examples of what it can offer people in the market for a new home.

Crestmont West by Qualico Communities is unveiling a show home parade featuring one frontdrive single-family home each from NuVista Homes, Sterling Homes, Broadview Homes, and Trico Homes.

Trico, the only builder offering duplexes in the community’s current phase, has one show home for this segment with one side staged, as well.

The show homes are located at Crestbrook Way S.W. and Crestbrook Drive S.W. They open with an event celebrating the launch, featuring family-friendly activities and food trucks, starting today at noon.

Following the existing community of Crestmont, this development will build out to 265 singlefamily homes, including some duplexes, along with a 4.8-hectare (12-acre) parcel earmarked for a future multi-family project.

Front-drive single-family homes at Crestmont West start in the $520,000s and duplexes start in the $490,000s. These prices include the lot and GST. For both home styles, walkout lots are available.

“It’s really bringing that affordable price point to an estate community,” says Daisy Lieu, marketing specialist for Qualico. “There has been a lot of interest.”

A new road from the community will connect to Old Coach Banff Road, providing a quick route to the vast shopping amenities in the Aspen and West Springs end of the city. This includes West 85th and Aspen Landing. With the improved access, the estimated drive time to these amenities is less than 10 minutes.

Construction is expected to be complete by the end of October, but the City of Calgary will determine when it’s open for public use, says Qualico.

“I think that will bring even more opportunity,” says Lieu, of the new road.

Currently, she says, “There are a lot (of ) great schools around, you’re close to Canada Olympic Park and WinSport, hospitals.”

Welcoming outdoor spaces are emphasized in the plan for Crestmont West, including a 1.52-hectare central park and 1.18-hectare pond surrounded by 2.62 hectares of parks. There’s a 5.22-hectare environmental reserve, as well.

The new show home parade includes, for single-family homes, the 2,166-square-foot Kingsley by NuVista, the 2,629-squarefoot Tallyn by Broadview, the 2,552-square-foot Carlton by Sterling, and Trico’s 2,405-square-foot Westchester. Trico’s duplex show is its 2,000-square-foot Apollo plan.

Show homes in Crestmont West are open 2 to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and noon to 5 p.m. on weekends and holidays.
