A suspect in a violent, fatal domestic assault in Forest Lawn has been located.

Deibi Francisco Monterroso Salazar, who also goes by the name David, has been arrested in connection with the death of a man found inside a home near the intersection of 39th Street and 19th Avenue S.E. on Wednesday.

Officers called to the home around 12:15 p.m. arrived to find pepper spray in the air, a woman suffering from serious injuries and a male who was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene.

Police immediately identified Monterroso Salazar as a suspect in the death and began circulating an image of the 29-year-old man. A Canada-wide warrant was issued for his arrest Thursday morning, and by late afternoon Monterroso Salazar had been located.

Investigators say they received a tip about the suspect’s whereabouts.

“Police were able to locate (Monterroso Salazar) at an acreage within the Strathmore area, where he was arrested without incident by members of Strathmore RCMP and RCMP emergency response team,” CPS said in a release.

Police also located the suspect’s mother, who had been missing. Investigators previously said they were concerned for her welfare.

“Mirsa Monterroso Salazar has also been located in Calgary in good physical condition,” police said. “She is currently speaking with CPS homicide unit investigators.”

Police previously warned the suspect was considered “dangerous” and should not be approached.

Late Wednesday, Acting Insp. Martin Schiavetta of the major crimes section confirmed the incident in Forest Lawn was considered to be domestic in nature.

In addition to the deceased male and the injured female, police also found two children, ages three and five, and their grandmother in the home.

“The surviving female victim was estranged from (the) suspect,” Schiavetta said.

“The deceased male found inside the residence was a male friend of our surviving female victim that was transported to hospital.”

An autopsy was expected to be completed Thursday and police said the identity of the victim will then be released.
