BIG VIEWS IN BRIDGELAND

Light and airy living

- CLAIRE YOUNG

Bridgeland Hill is true to its name, bringing homes with lofty views of the surrounding community from its vantage point above Bridgeland.

A main level show suite even features views of the Calgary Tower, the Bow building and Brookfield Place, while others look over the trees and homes in the established neighbourhood.

The apartment-style condo development by Gable Craft Homes is located on Edmonton Trail. While it is 80 per cent sold, it has a good selection of mainly two-bedroom and two-bedroom plus den homes ready for occupancy.

On the third floor, suite 309 illustrates the well-planned space of a two-bedroom home. At 862 square feet, it lies in the middle of the options for two-bedrooms, which range in size from 747 to 986 square feet.

Helping to keep this condo feeling light and airy is the fact that the great room and master bedroom both have windows on two walls.

This unit’s main entrance is in one corner of the floor plan. Once you step inside, the first view of the home is on a long diagonal, taking in the kitchen, dining area and living room. This foyer features a closet for storing coats and jackets, and is large enough to greet and see off guests without crowding them.

The foyers opens to the right into the kitchen, a galley set up with an extended ledge on the peninsula-style island with casual seating for three. A window provides natural light and a view onto the deck. The sink is also located on the island, giving a nice look at the dining area directly ahead.

The cabinetry is two-tone, with wood facing on the lower cabinets and high-gloss white on the upper cabinets. There’s a mix of cupboards and drawers for storage, while the Whirlpool 30-inch gas range with oven and Fisher & Paykel refrigerator gives the home chef the full tool box to work from.

Next to the front foyer closet and opening facing the kitchen are a closet for stacked laundry and the main bathroom, which is equipped with a bathtub.

There is enough room in the dining area to hold a table for six in the dining area, though the show suite keeps it simple with a smaller table tucked against the wall.

The dining area looks onto the living room, with views out over Bridgeland toward Tom Campbell’s Hill and its off-leash dog walking area. The community has mature trees making for a pretty canopy to watch throughout the seasons.

The deck, reached through sliding glass doors, is covered and includes a gas outlet for a barbecue. It’s a functional squarish shape, with views on two sides.

The secondary bedroom is off to the side from the dining area, with a generous walk-in closet. The

master bedroom has an ensuite with a shower and a walk-in closet.

Bridgeland is an established inner-city neighbourhood with a revitalized main street core. Shopping, restaurants and services are all within walking distance, as is the CTrain and downtown.
