MAVERICK MILESTONE
Breaking ground in Livingston
Owners at Maverick will have a seasonal memento to remember a milestone in the building of their new homes. Marking the groundbreaking on the first of three buildings on Dec. 1 at its site in Livingston, developer Avi Urban prepared special Christmas ornaments. Marked with the date and year, the glass globes contain soil from the site planted with a terrarium theme.
“It goes with our show suite — the terrarium, very Scandinavian,” says Stephanie Dickson, Avi Urban’s marketing manager. The one-bedroom show suite reflects simplicity and cosy decor. “People can hang it on their tree and it will be a nice piece of memorabilia.”
Maverick, a 177-unit development, consists of a trio of fourstorey buildings of 59 units each arranged around a central area with parking and a pet-friendly green space.
The name Maverick came about by taking a look at what this development represents.
“We were thinking about what it is that we were committing ourselves to — there are challenges in coming in with a higher density product, like an apartment condo product, in what was essentially a farmer’s field,” says Charron Ungar, president of Avi Urban.
“We really wanted to choose a name that put forth a pioneering spirit. Maverick defines itself well as the western spirit.”
It’s also a name that fits in with the legacy of Sam Livingston, the pioneer for which the community by Brookfield Residential just north of Stoney Trail flanking Centre Street is named.
“With the area being named after one of our great pioneers, I think it’s also important that we embody that in our development’s name,” says Ungar. “I think it speaks a lot to what Avi Urban does, too. We stick our neck out on the designs we put out there, and it pays off.”
The first building is half sold. A good range of apartment styles are available, from one-bedroom units starting in the $190,000s to twobedrooms plus den starting from the $290,000s. They range in size from 530 to 974 square feet.
“In each suite, most finishes that you would see as an upgrade come as a standard — so you’re getting the vinyl plank flooring, the quartz countertops, stainless steel appli- ances, vaulted ceilings. A lot of that comes with it,” says Sabrina Richardson, area sales manager.
Decks and patios are generous, giving residents plenty of outdoor living space. The parkade incudes a car wash as well as a dog wash. All two-bedroom, two bathroom units come with underground parking, and one bedrooms and one-bedrooms and dens come with the titled surface parking. Units on the upper floors come with underground parking.
