VILLAGE CENTRE SOIREE

Westman Village marks milestone

- JOSH SKAPIN

The $25 million centrepiece to Jayman Built’s sophisticated new southeast Calgary community is now complete.

Westman Village is a 5.5-hectare multi-faceted development within Mahogany, planned for 26,250 square feet of retail space, a daycare, dog park, marketplace, on-site concierge and security team, two restaurants, and four residential segments.

But the vital first step is its Village Centre, an innovative amenity and recreation hub spanning 40,000 square feet.

Jayman recently celebrated the completion of the Village Centre which took about 14 months to build.

Getting this facility ready right out of the gate was key, says sales manager Nicole Ziemann.

“It was important for us that our purchasers got to see the extension of their home before actually moving in,” she says. “We wanted to establish the heart of Westman Village.”

People who bought or have signed a lease for a home at Westman Village will have access to the Village Centre prior to taking possession starting on Jan. 3.

Club and condo fees for use of the centre will only need to be paid after the resident takes possession.

It will be open from noon to 8 p.m., to start, with planned future extensions to those hours.

The centre features a wine cellar, arts and crafts centre, woodworking room, fitness, spin and hot yoga facilities, steam room, and two swimming pools — one for lane swimming and aqua aerobics and another that connects to a twostorey waterslide.

There’s also an indoor garden, library, terrace, multi-purpose room, movie theatre, golf simulator, party room with a wet bar, billiards room, running track and half-court gymnasium.

There’s a lot to enjoy at the Village Centre, says Jay Westman, founder and CEO of Jayman Built.

“The woodworking shop blew me away,” he says. “They really did a good job with the detail.

“I love the theatre, you should hear that sound. And then the spin studio. It’s got the best sound I’ve ever heard in a spin studio.”

A first- hand look at the Village Centre, is now available on guided tours. People interested in a guided tour can visit the Westman Village presentation centre in Mahogany from 2 to 8 p. m. Monday through Thursday and noon to 5 p.m. on weekends and holidays.

Homes at Westman Village include condos at Calligraphy, estate condos at Reflection, Journey Club Seniors Living and Retirement Living, and choice leasing at a development dubbed Lyric.

Current starting prices include Calligraphy at $ 223,900, Reflection at $729,900, and Journey Club Retirement Living at $319,900. In all cases, the cost is before the GST.

Leasing on apartments at Lyric starts at $1,696 per month, and Journey Club Seniors Living from $3,743. At Journey Club Seniors Living, residents are offered services related to independent living, assisted living and memory care.

The next two milestones on tap for Westman Village are Journey Club Seniors Living and the Headquarters restaurant, both set to open in late spring 2018.

Other residential developments currently under construction include Lyric, the first building of Calligraphy, and the first phase of Reflection. The parkade is also underway at Journey Club Retirement Living.

The first round of tenants at Westman Village’s retail segment have also been announced, with Analog Coffee, Diner Deluxe, The Chopped Leaf, Mahogany Village Dental, and Mode Fitness Studio all confirmed to be joining the community.
