It’s the holiday season and that means a series of special Herald features will start appearing this week, including a few traditiona­l favourites with new publishing dates:

The annual mammoth crossword puzzle appears; Val Fortney writes about the meaning of the season; and, Louis Hobson discusses local theatre highlights from the year.

Mon., Dec. 25

No print edition is published, due to the Christmas holiday. The comics, puzzles, horoscopes and TV listings that usually appear in the Monday paper will instead be published on Dec. 23; calgaryher­ald.com will be publishing breaking news and sports.

Tues., Dec. 26

The annual business editor’s quiz appears.

Dec. 29

Answers to the mammoth crossword puzzle are published.

Dec. 30

Bill Kaufmann’s three-page review of the year’s top news events appears.

Dec. 30

In-depth, year-ahead horoscopes will be printed for all zodiac signs; restaurant reviewer John Gilchrist reveals his list of the best new restaurant­s; arts writer Eric Volmers takes a look at the year’s best moments in the local arts scene; and, Bill Brooks provides a review of the year’s best parties.

Jan. 1
