Hot Brown Honey

The festival starts with a fun show with a social message. Hot Brown

Honey is a dance/hip-hop piece with a feminist theme that brings attention to the plight of women of colour. Wednesday, Jan. 3 to Saturday, Jan. 6 at Theatre Junction Grand, 608 1st St. S.W. Various times. $15 - $40.

Reassemble­d, Slightly Askew

Playwright Shannon Yee fell ill with a brain infection, underwent brain surgery and emerged with a hidden disability. You experience her journey through a pair of headphones while lying on a hospital bed. Friday, Jan. 5 to Saturday, Jan. 13 at St. Louis Hotel, 430 8th Ave. S.E. Various times. $15 - $35.

Onegin

Veda Hille and Amiel Gladstone (creators, with Bill Richardson, of Do You Want What I Have Got? A Craigslist Cantata) reimagine Alexander Pushkin’s 1825 poem

as a musical theatre piece. Friday, Jan. 5 to Saturday, Jan. 13 at Max Bell Theatre, Arts Commons. 7:30 p.m. $30 - $50.

10-Minute Play Festival

The concept is familiar; the plays are fresh each year. This year’s participan­ts are Calgary Young People’s Theatre, Chromatic Theatre, Downstage, Handsome Alice, Swallow-a-Bicycle and Verb Theatre. Saturday, Jan. 6 at Martha Cohen Theatre, Arts Commons. 7:30 p.m. $25 - $35.

Moon, Moon, No Moon

One Yellow Rabbit’s contributi­on to the festival is a musical one about “humankind’s millennia-long relationsh­ip with the moon.” And they’re inviting special guests—including Bruce McCulloch, on Jan. 12 and Jan. 13. Tuesday, Jan. 9 to Saturday, Jan. 27 at Big Secret Theatre, Arts Commons. 8 p.m. $15 - $40.
