Early returns
You’ll barely have time to recover from New Year’s before getting roped in by One Yellow Rabbit’s High Performance Rodeo. Here are five shows not to miss at the start of the festival.
Hot Brown Honey
The festival starts with a fun show with a social message. Hot Brown
Honey is a dance/hip-hop piece with a feminist theme that brings attention to the plight of women of colour. Wednesday, Jan. 3 to Saturday, Jan. 6 at Theatre Junction Grand, 608 1st St. S.W. Various times. $15 - $40.
Reassembled, Slightly Askew
Playwright Shannon Yee fell ill with a brain infection, underwent brain surgery and emerged with a hidden disability. You experience her journey through a pair of headphones while lying on a hospital bed. Friday, Jan. 5 to Saturday, Jan. 13 at St. Louis Hotel, 430 8th Ave. S.E. Various times. $15 - $35.
Onegin

as a musical theatre piece. Friday, Jan. 5 to Saturday, Jan. 13 at Max Bell Theatre, Arts Commons. 7:30 p.m. $30 - $50.
10-Minute Play Festival

Moon, Moon, No Moon
One Yellow Rabbit’s contribution to the festival is a musical one about “humankind’s millennia-long relationship with the moon.” And they’re inviting special guests—including Bruce McCulloch, on Jan. 12 and Jan. 13. Tuesday, Jan. 9 to Saturday, Jan. 27 at Big Secret Theatre, Arts Commons. 8 p.m. $15 - $40.
