Police seek robber who ‘stomps’ on convenience store clerks

Police are looking for help to identify a suspect in four violent convenience store robberies in the past seven months.

The robberies — which happened at Mac’s or 7-Eleven stores in the city’s southwest or northeast — were similar, police say.

The suspect brandishes a weapon before he jumps the counter and demands that the clerk open the cash register. The thief then orders the clerk to lie on the floor.

“After stealing items, the suspect then allegedly stomps on the clerk’s head or neck area multiple times before fleeing. All of the clerks involved in the incidents received minor injuries as a result,” police said.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male, 20 to 35 years old, approximately 5-10 to six-feet tall, with a slim build. Police say the man is often described as wearing a black zip-up hooded sweatshirt, with the hood up, and gloves, with a scarf or mask covering the lower half of his face.

A Mac’s store at 2905 14th Street S.W. was robbed July 24 at about 4:25 a.m. The store was hit again Dec. 6 at around 3:35 a.m.

A 7-Eleven at 146-920 36th Street N.E. was robbed Nov. 7, at around 3:30 a.m.

The most recent incident occurred Jan. 7, at 10:50 p.m., at a Mac’s at 4100 Marlborough Drive N.E.
