EDMONTON Friends and family are identifying the third victim of carbon monoxide poisoning in Conklin as Cade Lavallee, a 29-year-old father.

Lavallee, along with two women, Tristan Dave-Lawrence, 21, of Red Deer, and Tanisha Peterson, 22, of Camrose, were found in a vehicle parked on Laguna Access Road near Conklin at 12:25 p.m. Tuesday.

Jonathan Cardinal became friends with Lavallee after going to school with the man’s brother and described him as a ladies’ man with great moves on the dance floor.

“He was always smiling,” Cardinal said.

Lavallee loved going out on his quad and driving trucks, the more horsepower, the better, Cardinal said. “He liked being out in the country, riding his quad on quad trails, quad rallies.”

He was also a dad and uncle. “They all loved him,” Cardinal said. “He was quite the loved guy, that’s for sure.”

Cardinal is now urging people to get the exhausts on their vehicles checked so no one else has to experience the same loss.

“It could happen to anybody,” Cardinal said. “There are a lot of people that spend time in their vehicles.”

The three deaths follow those of two teens in Drayton Valley on Dec. 21, who died from carbon monoxide poisoning that may have been caused by a faulty exhaust system component that allowed fumes to enter the car’s cabin.
