January 21: 10:30 a.m. Grief and Lament is the second in the Rediscover­ing the Commons service series. It recognizes the need for public expression of grief at the ways things are and releases energy to empower forward action. Presenter is Rev. January 21: 11 a.m. worship with Pastor Deborah Kerr at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church at 8007 Bowness Road N.W. with Jesus at the Sea of Galilee inviting the fishermen “Follow me and I will make you fish for people.” Annual general meeting follows with time for enjoying fellowship, baked goods and beverage.

January 23 and 24: Calgary Diamond Way Buddhist Centre presents Become Fearless and Joyful in 2018. Travel teacher Sarah Primus from Australia is visiting and giving three public lectures at the Calgary Centre. The Tuesday 7:30 p.m. lecture is Karma, Cause and Effect; Wednesday at 2 p.m. is Student Teacher Relationsh­ip; and, Wednesday 7:30 p.m. is Practice in Everyday Life. The Diamond Way Buddhist Centre Calgary is located in the Kingsland Plaza, tucked away on the breezeway behind Starbucks at 7628 Elbow Drive S.W.
