Tallyn bedroom stands out
The master bedroom can be more than just the largest sleep space in the home. With certain design touches, it can fully embrace the idea of providing a retreat.
Broadview Homes does this with its Tallyn show home in scenic Crestmont West. The home is 2,629 square feet and has a front-attached, two-car garage.
What makes its master bedroom stand out from others is both subtle and apparent.
It’s raised two steps from the rest of the second level of the home. While this may seem minor, it’s a detail more commonly seen in luxury estate-calibre homes, and in this case, sets the tone.
Through the entrance to the master bedroom, there are two spacious walk-in closets on opposite sides. For couples, this can give each member a closet of their own. Single people may enjoy the ability to use the two closets to separate their wardrobe based on the season.
The bedroom reaches a generous 14 feet six inches by 15 feet and gets a high volume of natural light through its large rear-facing window.
Its ensuite is both a pleasing space to get ready in the morning and a spa-like getaway.
Two vanities flank an elegant deep soaker tub that has a tile backslash and sits under a window. There’s also a glass-encased freestanding shower with stylish white subway tile.
The home has four bedrooms in total, including one next to the master. This bedroom also sits next to a full bathroom and across the hall from a laundry room with a front-load washer and dryer.
The full bathroom is shown with dual vanities and plenty of space for the children of the family to store hygiene and hair products.
The other two bedrooms, equal in size, are on the other side of a spacious bonus room, which is lit by two windows.
On the main level, domestic chefs will have eyes for its striking L-shaped kitchen. The island is substantial and has a sink and extended eating bar that comfortably seats four people.
The primary wall of kitchen features has an abundance of cabinets and stainless steel appliances, including a wall oven and chimneystyle hood fan.
Its other wall has floating shelves and an ideal spot to set up an espresso machine.
There’s also a walk-through pantry that connects to a mud room, with a built-in unit for hanging jackets and backpacks, that accesses the garage.
For people who need a place to get work done from home, this floor plan covers that, too. Across from the kitchen is a spacious flex room closed off by sliding barn doors.
If a work area isn’t needed, young families may see this area as a play room, where toys and children’s books can be tucked away when guests are over.
The back stretch of the main floor is comprised of a dining area and great room, with a contemporary elongated fireplace, against large windows that look into the backyard.
Crestmont West by Qualico Communities is an extension of the existing community of Crestmont in southwest Calgary and by the same developer.
Welcoming outdoor spaces are emphasized in the plan for Crestmont West, including a 1.52-hectare central park and 1.18-hectare pond surrounded by 2.62 hectares of parks. There’s a 5.22-hectare environmental reserve, as well.
With a new connection to Old Coach Banff Road, Crestmont residents will be about a 10-minute drive from the extensive amenities in the West Springs and Aspen end of Calgary, including commercial developments Aspen Landing and West 85th.
