Avi Urban opens sales for Winston at Walden homes

‘Amazing spaces’ meet affordability in innovative offering of townhomes, flats

- JOSH SKAPIN

Avi Urban’s strong history in Walden is continuing with an innovative new development featuring both condos and townhomes and an assortment of parking options.

The developer has three earlier multi-family sites in the southeast Calgary community, and another in neighbouring Chaparral Valley.

Following its Walden developments dubbed the Branches, Edison, and Jackson, Avi Urban will today open pre-construction sales on Winston at Walden.

“Walden is a great place to do business, most particularly because of the support we receive from community developer (Genstar Development Co.) to push the envelope of our designs and produce progressive and innovative housing product,” says Avi Urban’s president Charron Ungar.

Walden is located just east of Macleod Trail and boasts a plan that emphasizes large park spaces, and includes a pathway system that eventually connects to Fish Creek Provincial Park.

It also has an established retail hub anchored by a Save-on-Foods grocery store.

“We are one of the few homebuilders in the province that possess our own product development team in house, which allows us to utilize a group of dedicated archi- tects, interior designers and technicians that come together as a group and create amazing spaces that are all designed to our high internal standards,” Ungar says.

Winston will build out to 190 homes with prices starting from the $ 240,000s. This includes 23 buildings of both two-storey townhomes and apartment-style condos, in this case called flats. It totals 40 flats and 150 townhomes.

The townhomes have singlecar attached parking or detached parking, and the flats have two-car attached parking, says the developer.

“Winston is almost one year in the making with a foundation mindset of melding our best architectural and interior design statement with our desire to introduce a high value yet affordable home to the market,” says Ungar.

He calls its architecture “extremely strong and current.”

“I feel quite confident Winston will continue our tradition of raising the bar in that respect,” Ungar adds. “The interiors are efficient and check all the boxes for what our homebuyers are looking for.

“With a combination of two-storey townhomes with and without attached parking, and spacious flats in two distinct layouts, we will have quite a diverse product mix on offer to choose from.”

The flats range from 1,193 to 1,204 square feet, and the townhomes start from 941 to 1,186 square feet.

“I hope that prospective homeowners will be most impressed with the architecture and the interior design,” Ungar says.

“From an innovation standpoint, we are able to offer two-storey living spaces in a market traditionally driven by three-storey product,” he adds. “I haven’t seen a development like this one anywhere and I believe it is quite innovative in its own right.”

A sales centre for Winston is located at 340 Walden Parade S.E. and open 2 to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and noon to 5 p.m. on weekends and holidays.

Avi Urban also has developments in various stages of sales and construction in Savannah in Saddle Ridge, Livingston, Silverado, Mission, and Auburn Bay.
