Shared garden one of the perks at Holland Park
Pre-construction townhome sales begin for development off Walgrove Boulevard
People in the market for a townhome in southeast Calgary have a new opportunity at a development that will contain a community garden.
Excel Homes will open preconstruction sales on Holland Park in the community of Walden today starting at noon. The development is planned for 216 townhomes across 21 buildings, located off Walgrove Boulevard and 210th Avenue S.E. Prices here start from $279,900.
“Weare excited to bring a unique community garden to this condominium project,” says Carrie Smith, Excel’s marketing manager. “Having a nice, quiet, serene place to grow your organic vegetables, having something a little closer to home, I think is an added benefit.”
There are 10 floor plans to pick from, all three storeys, ranging from 1,172 to 1,452 square feet. In the opening phase release, the townhomes all have garages that fit two vehicles. Ninety per cent are planned for a double car format and the remaining 10 per cent will have a tandem car garage.
Potential buyers will have an assortment of bedroom orientations to pick from. There’s the ability to have two bedrooms, three bedrooms, and three bedrooms plus a flex room.
These townhomes have “contemporary, European-influenced” exterior architecture, says the builder.
For the interior, there are two designed-selected colour schemes to pick from.
The standards include nine-foot ceilings, large windows, a Whirlpool stainless steel appliance package, ceramic backsplash and counters with two-tone polished engineered stone.
A tech package, featuring a Nest Learning Thermostat, outdoor camera, wireless keyless entry, and video doorbell, will be offered as an upgrade in these townhomes.
“I think we’re going to have a variety of people living in Holland Park,” says Smith. “Not just firsttime home buyers but definitely downsizers, as well.”
Walden is a 166-hectare community by Genstar Development Co. that has 49 hectares in green space and nearly eight kilometres of pathways. The community connects to a regional pathways system that eventually links to Fish Creek Provincial Park.
There’s also an established commercial complex dubbed the Gates of Walden, which is anchored by a Save-on-Foods grocery store.
Excel is selling from an existing sales centre at 11 Walgrove Terrace, which is open 2 to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and noon to 5 p.m. on Fridays, weekends, and holidays.
An official sales centre, along with two show homes, will open March 24, followed by a grand opening celebration April 7.
