HOROSCOPE

- GEORGIA NICOLS

All signs: We’re clear to shop and do business. The full moon in Libra peaks at 6:37 a.m.

Aries (March 21 — April 19) Today: Today is the only full moon all year that’s opposite your sign. It’s almost a foregone conclusion that you’ll experience tension with partners and close friends. Tread carefully. Don’t do or say anything you’ll later regret.

Sunday: Don’t get caught up in explosive arguments with partners or close friends, especially females, because this is easy to do today. You’re opinionated and energetic. Nevertheless, someone will oppose you or surprise you.

This week: Every Mercury retrograde attracts people from our past out of the woodwork. Because this Mercury retrograde is in your sign, you’ll hear from ex-partners and old friends. You’ll also undergo the classic frustrations of misplacing stuff, forgetting things, missing appointments, being confused by mixed-up communications and suffering from transportation delays. But you have the advantage because you can use Mercury retrograde! You can go back to something you’ve been meaning to finish and suddenly — voila! It’s done!

Taurus (April 20 — May 20) Today: Today’s full moon might bring a health issue to a head. Or it could trigger problems with pets in your life, or problems at work or on the job. The full moon means something has reached its culmination.

Sunday: Although your research skills might yield good results, something at work or something related to your health or a pet will throw a detour into your day. It’s a surprise. Just cope as best you can.

This week: You’ll benefit from this Mercury retrograde. This week is fabulous for any kind of research. You’ll delve into the past with ease. History projects, seeking answers to old problems, plus counselling through psychoanalysis will be productive for you. (“Tell me about your first sexual experience.” Sigmund Freud was a Taurus.) Meanwhile, this is still a great time to buy wardrobe goodies.

Gemini (May 21 — June 20) Today: Relations with a friend might be intense because of the energy of the full moon. Patience is your best recourse because patience is the antidote to anger. It doesn’t remove anger but it’s a pretty good Band-Aid.

Sunday: Parents should know this is an accident-prone day for their kids. Know where they are at all times. Accidents that are sudden or perhaps related to electricity are possible. Meanwhile, social plans might suddenly change.

This week: Because Mercury is your ruler, you always feel Mercury retrograde no matter what sign it’s in. But I like to think this also means you can use Mercury retrograde more easily than other signs. For example, this week you can finish certain goals you’ve set. You can wrap up a project you already initiated with a group. Younger people will help you. Meanwhile, you’ll encounter friends and people from clubs and organizations who could benefit you. Someone might tell you something that’s the exact thing you needed to hear, like the missing piece to the puzzle. Cancer (June 21 — July 22) Today: Today’s full moon makes you feel caught between the demands of family versus the demands of your job. It’s impossible to please everyone. But for this one full moon, you can’t ignore your career.

Sunday: Your home routine will change. Small appliances might break down. Or perhaps someone you least expect is knocking at your door? Be ready for the unexpected.

This week: This particular Mercury retrograde is at the top of your chart, which means it’ll involve authority figures in your life. This involvement will be based on previous actions. These people you encounter will help you finish something you wanted to achieve. They can give you final approval. Perhaps you just need their encouragement or advice? If there is someone like this in your past that you hesitated to contact — do it this week! Leo (July 23 — Aug. 22)

Today: This is an accident-prone day. The full moon can bring a lot of energy into one little bottleneck. It can also put you on the spot regarding discussions about politics, religion and racial issues. Easy does it.

Sunday: This is also an accidentprone day for you. At the least, your daily routine will change. Stay light on your feet so that you can go with the flow. Avoid controversial subjects such as politics, religion and racial issues.

This week: While some signs easily use Mercury retrograde to their advantage, you’ll suffer from travel delays. Mixed-up reservations, hours spent in airports, double bookings and car problems might plague your week. Where Mercury retrograde can bless you is it will help you to finish school papers, finish that manuscript, study for tests, do school research and finish projects related to medicine and the law. If you’re writing a magazine article or anything related to the media, this will go swiftly.

Virgo (Aug. 23 — Sept. 22) Today: Disputes about shared property, inheritances and insurance matters might come to a head because of the full moon. It might be wise to wait and see how things are resolved. See what transpires in the next 48 hours.

Sunday: Keep an eye your money and your possessions because something unexpected will impact them. You might find money; you might lose money. Something you own might be lost, damaged or stolen. Stay on the ball for your own protection.

This week: Like Gemini, Mercury is your ruler; and while you feel the frustrations of Mercury retrograde, like Gemini, you have the inside track on how to use Mercury retrograde so you come out smelling like a — Virgo. You’ll finish business that is tax related or anything to do with debt, paying bills, insurance matters, inheritances, wills and estates. All that fun stuff. But how wonderful to get it done and off your plate! You might also end a dispute or clarify confusion about shared property.

Libra (Sept. 23 — Oct. 22) Today: The only full moon in your sign all year is taking place. Naturally, you feel sensitive and at odds with partners and close friends. You might be quick to take umbrage. Mellow out. Everything will come together in the next two days.

Sunday: A conversation with a partner or close friend could be intense. That’s because people are opinionated! (Including you.) Admittedly, you’ll attract this kind of situation to you. Brace yourself.

This week: The last time Mercury was retrograde opposite your sign was one year ago in April. Before that, it was in March 2012. When Mercury is retrograde opposite your sign, you have to deal with ex-spouses, ex-partners and old friends. You’ll encounter them in person or on the internet; or they might be involved indirectly in your life. Whatever — they’re back! (This won’t happen again until April 2024.) Naturally, you’ll demonstrate grace under pressure. It’s not just that you need to show someone what they missed; it’s more important to show them who you are now. Scorpio (Oct. 23 — Nov. 21) Today: The full moon might create some tension with co-workers, customers or anyone related to your job. On the other hand, it might bring a health issue to a crisis. It’s just a hump you have to get over. Don’t worry.

Sunday: Anything to do with your job, health or pet will be unpredictable. You might be so opinionated at work that you’re on your soapbox, blowing others away. Do you want others to listen or do you just want to talk?

This week: Mercury retrograde is that it wants life to go backward. This is why there are transportation delays. It’s also why the mail is late. But if you can think of anything you need to do where you need to “go backwards,” then you’re laughing! The particular areas you can work with this week relate to your job, your health and pets. So yes, your job will suffer from goofy errors. But you can also finish projects and wrap up stuff that’s been sitting around getting dusty. You can resume ambitious plans to improve your health. Whether it’s a diet or an exercise regime — don’t give up!

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 — Dec. 21) Today: Romantic relationships will be dodgy because of the full moon. Likewise, parents might be exasperated by their kids having hissy fits or meltdowns. Be understanding. The full moon makes everyone excitable.

Sunday: Parents be vigilant because this is an accident-prone time for your kids. Likewise, romance is touchy. If things go haywire, don’t overreact. Social plans and anything to do with sports will suffer from unexpected changes.

This week: You’ll be able to finish anything related to professional sports or the arts. Those of you who have projects on the go related to hobbies will also finish what you started. You might finish a writing project, a screenplay, a painting, a song, a quilt, a sculpture, a building idea, a playground or anything you started to create for children. Don’t let these areas nag you anymore. Roll up your sleeves and finish them! Old flames might be back in your life, in person or indirectly. This can be a thrilling, fun week!

Capricorn (Dec. 22 — Jan. 19) Today: You feel caught in a tug of war between the demands of family versus the demands of your career due to today’s full moon. However, with this particular full moon, you cannot ignore family.

Sunday: Family discussions will be intense. This could be because you or someone else feels rebellious, especially against a female family member. Issues might draw you away from home and family today. Not good. Stay at home.

This week: The downside of this Mercury retrograde is it will attract people to your home you’d rather not have. You might have to deal with that brother-in-law who always annoyed you. The upside is that family discussions will involve plowing through unfinished business and getting stuff done! This will be productive and beneficial for everyone. You can put your cards on the table and clarify boundaries. You can definitely finish DIY projects that have been lingering. Mars in your sign gives you boundless energy this week!

Aquarius (Jan. 20 — Feb. 18) Today: This is an accident-prone day for your sign. Pay attention to everything you say and do. Avoid arguments, especially with neighbours, siblings and relatives. All of this is full-moon stuff and it’s gone in 48 hours.

Sunday: Keep your eyes open because this is an accident-prone day for you, both verbally and physically. Stay sharp. Avoid arguments with siblings, neighbours and relatives because what’s the point? Stay on good terms.

This week: This particular Mercury retrograde is tough for your sign. Ironically, it’s because it takes place in the “home” of Mercury, which means it really goes postal! Transportation delays will be classic. Flat tires, you name it. One time I had three flat tires in a Mercury retrograde — about 10 years ago. Old friends, siblings and relatives might also be back on the scene. But you can study very efficiently! You can learn something you’ve been trying to master. You can wrap up writing projects. You can also wrap up sales deals.

Pisces (Feb. 19 — March 20) Today: Money quarrels might take place because of the full moon. Or perhaps disputes about shared property, shared responsibilities or differing values you have with someone will be an issue? This isn’t really a big deal.

Sunday: Double check financial plans and your online banking. Make sure you know what’s happening because something unexpected could impact your finances. Be proactive to minimize anything negative that might cost you.

This week: Financial frustrations this week will be par for the course because this particular Mercury retrograde is taking place in your house of earnings. One classic example will be cheques in the mail will be late. Money and cash meant to come to you will be delayed. Furthermore, there will be errors in financial transactions, so double check everything. Don’t inadvertently throw out the cheque in the trash. The good news is you can go after money that is owed to you. You can wrap up financial deals. You can finish projects that relate to how you earn your money. (Do not confuse this with opening a new business.)

If your birthday is today: Actor Christopher Walken (1943) shares your birthday. You’re in tune with society and friends. You’re quick to come up with an idea. This is a time of completions and taking inventory. Review past triumphs and failures as you finish this nine-year cycle. You might let go of people, jobs and places to move on to something new. You’re moving away from heavy burdens to something new and lighter! If your birthday is on Sunday:

TV host Rachel Maddow (1973) shares your birthday. Once you make a decision, you go after what you want. Your strength is your positive attitude. (Plus you’re charming and creative.) It’s time to get a better understanding of who you are. Explore meditation, yoga or other disciplines. This is also a year of teaching and learning. What you learn this year will be crucial for your progress next year.
