Convenient and functional
Busy families need a home that can keep up.
A floor plan that’s considerate of function and convenience isn’t just handy, it can be essential.
An example of a home with thoughtful, important touches from beginning to end is now on display in the northeast Calgary community of Redstone.
The Karma 24 by Jayman Built is a 2,285-square foot front-drive single-family home.
While the standard model has three bedrooms above grade, the show home demonstrates its prowess for catering to multigenerational needs.
It displays an optional bedroom on the main floor, and where a half bathroom would typically be, a full bathroom instead.
With this, house hunters that share a home with parents in their senior years, have what they need. People living in the main floor bedroom have something similar to a bungalow, where they can access all of their daily needs without having to use stairs.
Speaking of stairs, the show home also presents an optional developed basement, where there’s a fifth bedroom, and another full bathroom.
This sleep space works for a variety of living arrangements, including families with a child going to college and in need of an area to themselves.
Adding to this ability to provide separation is a staircase to the basement right off the foyer. The basement also includes a full bathroom and rec area.
On the main level, the spacious L-shaped kitchen takes centre stage.
It has a large island with a sink and extended eating bar that seats at least three people. There’s a generous amount of space around the island, making it a natural destination for gathering and socializing.
The kitchen also features a fullheight backsplash and stainless steel appliances, including an over the range microwave.
There’s also a walk-through pantry that leads into a mud room, accessing the attached garage. This creates a quick and easy path when hauling in bags of groceries after a trip to the supermarket.
Along the rear-facing wall there’s a dining area and 12 foot 11 inch by 14 foot great room that sit side-byside. Both spaces have oversized windows that pull in high levels sunlight.
On the second level, the master bedroom is a prize.
Its ensuite is designed to be both an efficient place to get ready in the morning, and a soothing spot in which to unwind. There’s a deep soaker tub next to a glass encased shower, and dual vanities under a full-width mirror. The vanity also includes a makeup desk.
The adjoining walk-in closet is expansive. Attached to the ensuite, it sets up a substantial area to get dressed and start the day.
Moreover, there’s the convenient bonus of a walk-through laundry area. This means there’s direct access between the walk-in closet and laundry room, which has a frontload washer and dryer. As such, putting away a load of laundry is only a step or two away.
The second level has a central bonus room, which is both a welcoming space to gather, and a layer of privacy between the master bedroom and two secondary bedrooms on the opposite end of the floor.
A full bathroom is conveniently located near the secondary bedrooms, which sit side-by-side.
Redstone is a community masterplanned by Qualico Communities, and accessed off Metis Trail. It’s a finalist for Community of the YearCity of Calgary at the BILD -Calgary Region Awards, which will be announced April 14.
The community boasts 19.65 hectares of park and green space, three playgrounds, two parks with outdoor exercise equipment, and 2.3 kilometres of pathways that link to the Rotary/Mattamy Greenway.
