ESSENTIAL OFFERINGS
Townhome sports spice kitchen
It’s a space that not only contains the spread of aromas from spicy cuisines, but hides the mess that can come from meal preparation as well.
Spice kitchens are a handy option more commonly offered in single-family homes and duplexes. But a new development in northeast Calgary demonstrates how well it can work for townhome buyers too.
Essential Savanna is the debut Calgary development for Rohit Communities, which has been active in the Edmonton market for more than 30 years.
It’s located in Savanna in Saddle Ridge, a master-planned community accessed off Metis Trail by Genstar Development Co.
Rohit recently unveiled the first full-scale example of what Essential can offer, displaying its Jasper model.
This three-storey townhome with an attached garage ranges from 1,415 to 1,456 square feet.
Presented in this show home is the model’s optional spice kitchen. With this feature, people can cook strong-scented dishes without worrying about the aroma lingering or spreading throughout the main level.
This smaller cooking space — equipped with an oven, hood fan, counter and shelves — has all of the necessities for preparing a large dinner.
It’s located across from the conventional kitchen, which is a galley-style format and part of an open-concept design.
The conventional kitchen makes organizing pots and pans easy with a volume of cabinets higher than what’s typically seen in a townhome.
It also features stainless steel appliances, including an overthe-range hood fan, a full-height backsplash and an eating bar with a sink and seating for three.
Across from the kitchen is a dining area that gets a generous amount of natural light through a large window. As staged in the show home, the dining area comfortably accommodates a table for eight.
The balance of the main level is a substantial area for sitting and socializing. The great room is 14 feet four inches by 15 feet two inches, and also boasts big windows that bring in a pleasing level of sunshine.
It also connects to a front-facing balcony, allowing conversations with friends and family to continue into the fresh air.
The show home displays a three bedroom format, but there’s an option for a double master bedroom configuration instead.
Its front-facing master bedroom reaches nine feet 10 inches by 11 feet five inches, and is accessorized with a spacious walk-in closet and ensuite.
The two secondary bedrooms are generously sized and sit side by side along the back. A full bathroom across the hallway from a laundry area is also part of the second level.
On the ground level, along with the garage, the townhome includes a well-sized den. This area can be used for a variety of purposes, including a home office.
