Calbridge Homes and Shane Homes earned the highest honours in single-family and multi-family home building, respectively, at a Calgary region competition honouring the top performances in the residential industry last year.

Winners of the BILD (Building Industry and Land Development) Calgary Region Awards were unveiled during a gala event at the Telus Convention Centre on Saturday. The competition included trophies — featuring a stylized bird — for 58 individual categories related to marketing, sales, homes, multi-family homes, communities and renovation.

Headlining the night were five Grand Awards, the top achievements in the competition, and earned by how well the companies’ finalist submissions performed in individual categories.

Calbridge Homes was crowned Builder of the Year and Shane Homes earned the Multi-Family Builder of the Year title.

Other hardware going to Calbridge included its entry for the Brooklyn in the Ridge at Sage Meadows winning for Best New Home $485,000-$549,999, and a custom private residence in Cranston’s Riverstone winning for Best New Home $1,500,000-$2,299,999.

“We love what we do,” said Joe Ferraro, Calbridge’s chairman and founder.

“This is one of my proudest moments. We have such a young team, a passionate team. This has everything to do with them.”

Shane Homes’ haul in individual categories was earned by the Mark 101 in Sage Hill, the company ’s debut condo development. From the Mark 101, Floor Plan A1-B topped the category for Best New MultiFamily Design 750 to 899 square feet; Floor Plan A2A-B won for Best New Multi-Family Design 900 to 1,149 square feet; and Floor Plan B2B won for Best Apartment Style Condo — Up to One Bedroom plus Den.

“The competition is fierce,” said Kevin Taylor, general manager of Shane Homes Multi-Family. “To come away with three awards, including Multi-Family Builder of the Year, is a sign of the dedication of our staff and our consultants.

Jayman Built finished as the runner-up in both the Builder of the Year and Multi-Family Builder of the Year races.
