TOOTH FAIRY FINANCES EXPOSED
If you’re a kid, the song goes, all you want for Christmas is your two front teeth — well, that or some reasonable financial compensation from the tooth fairy.
According to a recent study by LendEDU, baby boomers (ages 54 and up) received an average of 69 cents per tooth when they were younger. Compare that to Generation Xers (ages 39-53), who received an average of $1.39 per tooth, or millennials (ages 24-38), who received an average of $2.13 per tooth. Finally, the youngest segment of the population — Generation Zers (ages six to 23) — get an average of $3.25 per tooth.
Lest you think baby boomers got the short shrift, consider inflation: When that’s factored in, they averaged $5.77 per tooth in today’s dollar, while millennials took in just $3.72. LendEDU surveyed 1,238 Americans via an online poll for the study.
