FIVE LIVE SOUNDS
A trio of releases fills the weekend while the Calgary Creative Arts Ensemble Tentet fills Betty Lou’s.

The local Pitchfork darlings play a pair of hometown shows in support of their latest, simply titled New Material. Doors, 9 p.m. $15. showpass.com.
Friday: Deanne Matley album release
The jazz vocalist celebrates the release of Because I Loved, a title that hints at the lyrical content within, which takes listeners “on her own emotional journey from the pain of losing love to quiet contentment, with stops at red-hot passion and the excitement of new love along the way.” At Knox United Church, 506 4th St. S.W. 7:30 p.m. $21.50 - $30. eventbrite.ca.
Friday: Mariel Buckley album release, with Lucky Sonne
Buckley teamed up with Leeroy Stagger for her sophomore full length, Driving in the Dark, which “expands her classic country sound to include more edgy rock ’n’ roll tones.” At Festival Hall, 1215 10th Ave. S.E. Doors, 7:30 p.m. $25. TF.
Saturday: Chris Reimer posthumous LP release
