1 JARVIS HALL GALLERY

The first landing spot of the hop is Jarvis Hall, which is currently hosting Marigold Santos’ exhibition, The Weight & The Weeping, which “embraces multiplicity, fragmentation and empowerment, as informed by experiences of movement and migration.” 333B 36th Ave. S.E., 11 a.m., 403-2069942, jarvishallgallery.com.

2 MASTERS GALLERY

David Brunning, a.k.a. TheKidBelo, has made the transition from skate parks to gallery walls. The former graffiti artist (who oversaw the sanctioned graffiti at Shaw Millennium Park in 2009) presents abstract work in acrylic and aerosol in the exhibition If Walls Could Talk. 2115 4th St. S.W., 11:45 a.m., 403-245-2064, mastersgalleryltd.com.

3 LOCH GALLERY

Loch’s latest exhibition, Framed by John Hall, is a family affair. His son, Jarvis, whose gallery opened the hop, provided the antique frames for John’s latest series of hyperreal paintings on the opposite side of the canvas. 1516 4th St. S.W., 12:30 p.m., 403-2098542, lochgallery.com.

4A HERRINGER KISS GALLERY

Your first hop on Eleventh Avenue is a return to the abstract—Fiona Ackerman’s botanical drawing-inspired series Act Naturally. 709A 11th Ave. S.W. 1:15 p.m. 403-2284889, herringerkissgallery.com.

4B PAUL KUHN GALLERY

Stu Oxley’s latest exhibition, Distant Still, features abstract landscapes that “seem to penetrate beneath the surface and sit on the edge of consciousness.” 724 11th Ave. S.W., 2 p.m., 403-2631162, paulkuhngallery.com.

4C NEWZONES

Newzones previews its next exhibition by Marie Lannoo, Spectrum, which opens May 12. The series of six paintings in acrylic on aluminum span the colour scale with a variety of geometric shapes. 730 11th Ave. S.W., 2:45 p.m., 403-2661972, newzones.com.

5 TRÉPANIER BAER

Vikky Alexander wants viewers of her exhibition Other Fantasies to ask themselves, “where am I; what is this dream?” The floor-to-ceiling wall murals are a surreal blend of photographed scenes and patterns. 105, 999 8th St. S.W., 3:30 p.m. 403-244-2066, trepanierbaer.com.

6 WALLACE GALLERIES

The final stop of the hop returns to the concrete. Andre Patterson’s photos in Brand explore the pervasiveness of brand imagery even in places like a small Myanmese island, which is “reachable only by boat” and where “there are no cars or apparent trappings of modern life” except maybe a Dolce & Gabbana T-shirt. 500 5th Ave. S.W., 4:15 p.m. 403-262-8050, wallacegalleries.com. —Jon Roe
