TOP RENOVATOR TITLE GOES TO KON-STRUX
On the residential industry awards circuit, it’s been a banner year for Kon-strux Developments.
It started in March — at the Canadian Home Builders’ Association 2018 National Awards for Housing Excellence in Victoria — where the Calgary-based company was called to the podium to collect three trophies.
It continued at the local level, announced earlier this month, when Kon-strux earned the competition’s top renovation honour.
Kon-strux was named Renovator of the Year at the BILD (Building Industry and Land Development) Calgary Region Awards, which is formerly known as the SAM (Sales and Marketing) Awards. A gala event unveiling the winners was held at the Telus Convention Centre on April 14.
“We were in shock,” says Shannon Lenstra, president of Konstrux, on winning the top renovator trophy. She adds, the recognition “typifies all of the hard work our team, architects, and designers have put in.”
Lenstra started the company in 2007.
“Our core values as a company have come to fruition,” Lenstra says. “We have a great value proposition with a unique out-of-the box design and leading edge approach. Our customers believe in us and allow us to guide their dreams into reality.”
Renovator of the Year is one of five grand awards, known as the top prizes in the competition. The others were Calbridge Homes for Builder of the Year, Shane Homes for Multi-Family Builder of the Year, Riverview Custom Homes for Builder of Merit, and 3HD Building Systems for Partner of the Year.
Finalists for Renovator of the Year include Ultimate Renovations, Renova Luxury Renovations, Dependable Renovations, and Empire Custom Homes.
Kon-strux also won three awards in individual renovation categories. Its Modern Masterpiece submission led the Best Home Renovation (with addition) class, while its Linear Elegance entry won for Best Kitchen Renovation — $90,000 and over, and its entry dubbed Statement Piece won for Best Home Exterior Renovation (with or without addition).
“We love all of our projects,” says Lenstra. “They are all uniquely individual to use, and it is what Konstrux is passionate about.”
Ultimate Renovations was also a multiple winner in renovation award categories this year.
The company’s Edgemont Full House Transformation entry won for Best Home Renovation (without addition), while its Edgemont Ensuite Renovation won for Best Bathroom/Ensuite Renovation, and its Bonavista Outdoor Lake Living entry led the way in the Best Renovator’s Choice Renovation.
The balance of the renovator awards went to Allenbrook Homes with its Brentwood Basement Development entry for Best Basement Renovation/Development, and Renova Luxury Renovations with its Tuscany Residence winning for Best Kitchen Renovation — up to $89,999.
