A minivan driver is accused of exposing himself to a female motorist while speeding down Stoney Trail at 100 km/ h.

Police say the female driver of a small sedan was headed home from a night shift around 6:30 a.m. on May 12, driving southbound on Stoney Trail when the incident happened.

As she approached the Peigan Trail ramp, the male driver of a blue minivan pulled up beside her and exposed his genitals to the woman, police say.

Det. Travis Juska of Calgary Police Service said the woman tried to slow down to read the man’s licence plate, but he quickly exited on to Peigan Trail.

“In this case, she did slow down to try and let him pass,” Juska said, adding the man matched her speed before hitting his brakes and taking the exit.

Juska said the flasher would have committed a number of traffic and road safety offences on top of an indecent exposure charge. He said flashings are common, but not at 100 km/ h.

“I would call it extremely uncommon. In my 11-year career, it’s the first time I’ve heard of it.”

The suspect is described as a 45-year-old Caucasian male with short, grey-brown hair and a beard. His vehicle is a light blue, early 2000s Dodge Caravan with a white roof rack.

Police have released a composite sketch of the alleged flasher and sample photos of his van in hopes members of the public can help identify the man.

The sketch can be seen online by visiting the City of Calgary newsroom.

Anyone with information about the driver or the van should call the Calgary Police at 403-266-1234 or call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477
