Bar codes could track trash easily
Why waste all that money to purchase and manage new black bins of various sizes, when the simple solution is readily apparent. Has anyone noticed the bar code on their current black bin?
All you need to do is assign each property a unique bar code, put a bar code reader on the garbage truck lifting arm, weigh and automatically record the amount of garbage that is dumped from each bin, and charge each household accordingly. That way, bin size becomes irrelevant.
And just think — if the weigh scales are as reliable as Enmax water meters, the city could occasionally charge someone with a dumping fee for 15,000 pounds from a single black bin.
