The prizes for the 2018 Calgary Stampede Lottery were unveiled Wednesday, and they are nothing short of the expected over-the-top extravagance.

With prizes ranging from a $1-million dream home to a $74,000 Corvette Stingray, the Stampede Lotteries Committee hopes to raise more money than last year’s record-breaking $3.2 million.

“This is our largest lottery ever, but the dream home has the biggest change with the $100,000 cash added to it,” said Edward Gordon, chair of the Stampede Lotteries Committee.

The Homes by Avi dream home is more than 2,400 square feet and comes with $75,000 worth of furnishings.

Julie Punter, a designer with Homes by Avi, said her team has been working on the modern details of the home since they began planning the house in October.

“We really liked the mid-century feel, so we embraced that and went with it. There are a lot of dark woods, gold and moody, kind of dark details,” said Punter.

“We take a concept and breathe life into a floor plan.”

While gold details from the ’80s are back in style, the dream home uses more muted and less brassy tones, giving it a modern twist, said Punter.

The home is two storeys and includes an open-concept main floor, and a master bedroom and ensuite that comes complete with a shower, bathtub and “retreat” space.

“The retreat in the master is a unique space. I think a lot of people might think, ‘ What would I use that for?’ But I think it’s a great space to drink coffee, sit and read the paper or take a break, maybe from the kids,” said Punter, adding the space could also be used for workouts.

Each year, the Stampede Lotteries Committee, Kinsmen Club and Rotary Club partner to create the prizes, which benefit charities in Calgary.

Other prizes this year include a limited edition 115th anniversary 2018 Harley-Davidson motorcycle and a 2018 Montana trailer.

The unveiling of the prizes marks the final week of the ticket campaign.

The winners are drawn on the Wednesday after the Stampede ends.
