Airdrie RCMP continue to search for suspect in weekend stabbing

Mounties in Airdrie are still looking for the man responsibl­e for a weekend stabbing north of the city.

Airdrie RCMP were called to the Dickson Stevenson Rest Stop for reports of a shooting around 5:20 p.m. Sunday evening.

A male was found suffering stab wounds and was transporte­d to hospital, where he is still recovering.

An intense search for the suspect began that held up highway traffic. Witnesses driving by reported seeing officers combing the area with guns drawn.

The offender fled the area before police arrived.

He is still at large while his vehicle, a 2009 Buick Enclave, was found in the Edmonton area later that night.
