Aug. 27: An evening with the Benedictines. A presentation on Benedictine Spirituality: Liturgy, Lectio and Labour will be led by Father Pius, a monk from Mount Angel Abbey in Oregon. The talk will be given from 7 to 9 p.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church, 800 - 85 St. S.W. Admission is free, but there will be a free-will offering to cover travel expenses.

Sept. 28 and 29: Brave Spaces is a conference that asks the difficult question, “What does it look like to be truly inclusive?” Tickets available on Eventbrite.ca, $20 to $70 (subsidies available) bravespaces@mcdunited.com. On Sept. 28, Jan Derbyshire presents a show that turns the audience into a mental-health review board to help determine her current state of sanity. Sept. 29 is a full day conference with Erik Carter, professor of special education at Vanderbilt University; Tony Snow, an Indigenous theologian and scholar from the Stoney Nakoda Nation in Morley; and, Jan Derbyshire, an established multi-disciplinary artist and educator.
