Cornering two frightened teenagers in a woman’s washroom stall at a Calgary movie theatre and fondling himself has landed a city man a six-month sentence.

Matthew King-Cadeau, 20, was also placed on probation for 18 months and ordered to have no contact with his victims.

Crown prosecutor Richelle Freiheit also asked provincial court Judge Sean Dunnigan to ban KingCadeau from Cineplex theatres for that period, but his honour went one step farther.

“He’s not going to any theatres in the province of Alberta,” Dunnigan said Monday. “He can watch TV.”

King-Cadeau pleaded guilty to unlawfully confining his two female victims in a washroom stall and committing an indecent act in public.

Freiheit said King-Cadeau first approached the 17-year-olds while walking into Chinook Centre Cineplex around 10 p.m. on April 2.

The girls ignored him and proceeded to the women’s washroom where they entered a stall. Undeterred, King-Cadeau followed them to the door of the locked stall, where he lowered his pants.

“The two girls were very concerned and very alarmed by this,” said Freiheit.

The incident occurred about two weeks after King-Cadeau was involved in an altercation with a security guard at the Sunridge Mall Cineplex in which he punched the man while being ejected.

Freiheit said that offence warranted a one-month term.

Because of so-called dead time on remand, King-Cadeau has served the equivalent of a sevenmonth sentence.

Dunnigan accepted a joint submission from Freiheit and defence counsel Michael Miller for time in custody plus probation.

He’s not going to any theatres in the province of Alberta. He can watch TV.
