They call them legends, stars of the golf course.

But just who are these guys whose names aren’t Dustin, Justin, Tiger, Sergio or Rory competing Friday to Sunday at Calgary’s Shaw Charity Classic?

First, there’s Miguel Angel Jimenez, the 54-year-old ponytailed, cigarchomping Spaniard who just won the Senior British Open (and racked up 21 victories on the European Tour). Davis Love III of the United States is one of the most successful golfers on any Tour who still competes on the regular PGA circuit. The World Golf Hall of Fame member has won 21 professional tournaments and is making his first trip to Calgary. Germany’s Bernhard Langer has the second most PGA Tour Champions wins ever (37), behind another legend, Hale Irwin. The World Hall of Fame member won the prestigious Masters tournament twice.

Vijay Singh will make his second trip to Calgary. The Fijian just won the Seniors Players Championship and, in his career, has 63 worldwide wins, including 34 PGA Tour and 13 European Tour titles.

Two just-turned 50-year-old rookies are attending. Darren Clarke of Northern Ireland has three PGA Tour victories and 15 international wins and Chris DiMarco of the U.S. is a three-time PGA Tour winner and was top 10 worldwide between 2002 and 2006.

Colin (Monty) Montgomerie of Scotland has 53 professional wins and, starting in 1993 and running seven straight years, he earned more money than any other British golfer in history.

Former Calgarian Stephen Ames will be back to attempt to win the tournament he played a major role in getting started.

Fred Couples, who won the 2014 Shaw Charity Classic in dramatic fashion, will be returning as well. Couples earned 15 PGA victories, including the 1992 Masters.
