Owners just want pizza trailer back

Tom’s House of Pizza is turning up the heat on whoever stole its mobile pizza trailer from the restaurant’s Okotoks location.
Sebastien Windle, son of Tom’s owner John Windle, says the trailer has been a staple of the company’s charity work for nearly 25 years. Usually used at charity golf tournaments, the mobile trailer kept attendees hungry and happy while they raised funds for various charities in southern Alberta.
Sebastien said the trailer was last used Sept. 12 at the MS Golf Calgary charity event at Elbow Springs Golf Club, in support of the Multiple Sclerosis Society Of Canada.
But now the trailer is missing, one week after Sebastien parked the portable pizza cooker at the Tom’s House of Pizza in Okotoks, at 235 Milligan Drive.
“It was first noticed (Wednesday) morning that it was missing,” Sebastien said of the trailer his father built more than two decades ago. “We did see it on Monday ... so between Monday morning and Wednesday is when it went missing.”
Sebastien is hoping someone will see the one-of-a-kind trailer and contact Okotoks RCMP at 403938-4202 or leave a message with staff at the Tom’s House of Pizza on Macleod Trail, at 403-252-0111.
“It’s pretty distinctive, it has a chimney and a roof so it looks like a little house,” he said. “And it’s got a huge Tom’s House of Pizza logo on it, so we’re hoping that if the (thieves) are not interested in bringing it back that maybe someone will see it, as it’s very unique.”
Sebastien is puzzled as to why anyone would abscond with a trailer “you can’t really do anything else with,” other than cook pizza.
“It’s got a pizza oven and a builtin fridge and all the stuff you’d need to make it compliant for health and safety. Other than that, you can’t really do much with it.”
The MS Golf Calgary event was the last scheduled stop for the trailer on this year’s charity circuit, but Sebastien said the company will often have some last-minute requests in late September.
All the Windle family wants is to get the customized trailer back.
“If somehow it showed up back at our restaurant, we wouldn’t argue with it,” he said.
