Aston Martin rolling out $10M two-pack

- JAMES GENT Driving.ca

Aston Martin will produce a limited-edition Zagato version of the DBS Superleggera, the automaker has announced, adding that you can only get your wealthy mitts on one if you also buy an equally limited-edition “continuation” run of the DB4 GT Zagato.

The duo are being packaged together as the DBZ Centenary Collection, commissioned to celebrate 100 years of Italian design house Zagato, with whom Aston Martin has held a working relationship since 1960.

Only 19 pairs of both models will be produced for an eye-watering price of about $10 million. Plus taxes. And no, if you’re a bit short this month, Aston Martin will not sell either model separately.

Much like Aston’s previous continuation series — namely the 25 DB4 GT models and the DB5 Goldfinger cars — the DB4 Zagatos will be produced at the Aston Martin Works facility in Newport Pagnell, England but will not be homologated for road use.

The DBS Zagato, meanwhile, will be road-legal, and will be built at Aston’s Gaydon headquarters in England. Aside from the sketch and confirmation, little else has been announced.

It’s likely, though, that the DBS Zagato will feature the same rampant 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12 as used in the Superleggera, albeit with a mild power hike over the existing sports car’s 715 horsepower. The DB4 Zagato, meanwhile, will closely follow the template of its 1960s original.
