LIVING LIKE ROYALTY IN THE WINDSOR

Six-storey building off Elbow Drive has 21 floor plans to choose from

- CINDY STEPHEN

Located where Burt’s Store stood for more than 70 years at the corner of Elbow Drive and 50th Avenue S.W., the Windsor will be the first multi-family development at this exclusive intersection where the affluent communities of Windsor, Elboya and Britannia converge.

Homes in the Windsor, built by Calgary-based Arlington Street Investments, cater to a variety of upscale tastes. Prices range from $322,900 for one-bedroom units up to $1.4 million for the largest three-bedroom plus den, threebathroom flats.

The six-storey mixed-use building will hold court at Elbow Drive and 50th Avenue S.W. The Windsor is 50 per cent sold, with much of the retail space leased.

“We have quite a diversity of product and floor plans, ranging from 576 square feet up to 2,203 square feet,” says sales manager Alexis Meinzer.

“Our one-bedroom units are 95 per cent sold and our townhomes were the first things to go. Many of our buyers come from larger homes and they want larger, single-level units with a lock-andleave lifestyle.”

There are 21 floor plans in one-, two- and three-bedroom configurations — each with options for a den. The two and three-bedroom plans have either two or three bathrooms and one or two outdoor spaces.

Homes feature full-length windows, nine-foot ceilings, designer quartz, luxury vinyl plank flooring, stainless steel appliances, air conditioning and titled underground heated parking.

“People from Britannia and Elboya are buying in the Windsor and we know they’re coming from beautiful homes. We want to provide that same beauty and comfort, just in a condominium,” Meinzer says.

The sole amenity is the rooftop patio on the northwest corner, with space for entertaining and views of downtown, the Elbow River Valley and the mountains.

“We build in communities with so many amenities already. We don’t need to put them in our buildings and make our buyers pay additional condo fees,” she says.

The 22,000-square-foot main floor will have an organic market, fitness studio, nail salon, boutique bistro and a cigar shop. Across the street are Britannia Crossing and the venerable Britannia Plaza, with more restaurants, an exclusive wine store, coffee shop, bank, deli, dry cleaners and more.

“With the market on the main floor, homeowners can order their groceries and have them delivered up the elevator to their door,” Meinzer says.

There’s a transit stop in front of the building and downtown is a 10-minute drive on either Elbow Drive or Macleod Trail. The Windsor is a block from the entrance to the Calgary Golf and Country Club and the off-leash dog park area on Britannia Slopes above the Elbow River.

Possessions are expected in summer 2019.

The show suite is accessible from Elbow Drive on 51st Avenue S.W. It is open Wednesday to Friday from noon to 6 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.
