First Nations art in library encouraging
Re: Past, present and future; Central Library’s project bridges traditional and modern Indigenous issues through art, Nov. 1
I was most uplifted by Eric Volmers’ story on Kalum Teke Dan. Felt a glimmer of hope for the country for the first time in decades. I’ve been honoured to help out in a small way at several events both Indigenous and non where Mr. Dan’s work has been featured along with other First Nations artists. What I’m seeing is an emerging creative community reminiscent of the Group of Seven or Emily Carr and the Haida community.
Could this be Canada’s long-delayed next evolutionary step where our First Nations peoples become simply neighbours? More life-options for all of us to share? More cultural richness in everyone’s daily lives? Guy Plecash, Calgary
