Stampeders re-sign four import players

-

The Calgary Stampeders have resigned four international players including offensive linemen Nila Kasitati and Justin Renfrow, defensive back DaShaun Amos and defensive linemen Chris Casher.

All four players finished the 2018 campaign on the Stamps’ practice roster, with Kasitati, Renfrow and Amos seeing some game action during the season.

Kasitati, a product of the NCAA Oklahoma Sooners, started four games — two at centre and two at right tackle. He spent time with the National Football League’s Washington Redskins and Jacksonville Jaguars before joining the Stampeders.

Renfrow, a native of Philadelphia, has played seven games over the past two seasons with the Stampeders. He made one start last season on July 12 in Ottawa. He played on the defensive line in college and signed with the NFL’s Arizona Cardinals as an undrafted free agent in 2014. He also spent time with the NFL’s Green Bay Packers, Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers, Dallas Cowboys and Buffalo Bills.

Amos, an alumnus of the NCAA East Carolina Pirates, made two starts for the Stamps after signing on Oct. 3. He started at defensive halfback against the B.C. Lions on Oct. 13 and at cornerback Oct. 26 against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He attended training camp with the NFL’s New York Giants in 2017.

Casher, a native of Mobile, Ala., didn’t see game action after signing with the Stampeders on Sept. 11.
