TESKE, Arthur

-

Arthur Teske of Ponoka, Alberta passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 27, 2019, at the age of 94 years. "God saw that you were tired so he wrapped his arms around you and whispered come with me". It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Arthur Teske. Arthur was born in Hercules, Alberta to Clara and William Teske. Arthur was a loving a devoted father to his daughter Deborah, grandfather to Lacey and her husband Wes, and to his great-grandson to Jack Arthur. Arthur started his career in Pipefitting while living in Edmonton until he transferred to Calgary where he retired as a Foreman in the mid 80’s. He was known to be a strong and dedicated hard-worker. He always had his wits about him and accomplished any task presented to him. Arthur enjoyed playing ball in his younger days and in later years enjoyed watching baseball, hockey and curling. He enjoyed watching "The Tommy Hunter Show" and "The Red Skelton Show" and Saturday afternoon "Stampede Wrestling". He also loved playing Cribbage and Canasta. Before settling in Ponoka, he could also be found ushering at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Calgary on many Sundays. Arthur always enjoyed his A and W burger, his Dairy Queen dipped ice cream cone but mostly enjoyed making his bacon and eggs every morning. He was known to have a bag of BBQ chips in his vehicle just in case he needed a snack. Arthur enjoyed gardening and eating an apple from the apple tree he grew. He could often be found sitting under his "thinking tree" during summer afternoons. Arthur loved the colour blue whether it was clothes or vehicles and he was a "true blue" FORD man. Arthur was always available to lend a hand, ear or shoulder to his family when they needed him. His family never went without anything because he was dependable, reliable and a great role-model. Even during his last days he still said, "there is always someone worse off than me". He was a stubborn, strong-willed Teddy Bear with a huge heart. Arthur was an inspiration and meant the absolute world to his family. He will be greatly missed, but his spirit will live on with his daughter, granddaughter and her husband but mostly will live on through his great-grandson. Arthur is survived by his daughter Deborah Teske; granddaughter Lacey Teske Allison and her husband Wes Allison; great-grandson Jack Allison; brother Albert Teske; as well as many other extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Clara and William, numerous brothers and sisters as well as Esther Teske. The Family of Arthur would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Ponoka Hospital and Care Centre, Ponoka Homecare and FCSS as well as to Pastor Tim Graff of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church for their care and comfort given to Arthur and his family during his final days. They would also like to send a thank you to Marlon and Sheila at the Ponoka Funeral Home for their special care and respect given to Arthur. With respect to Arthur’s wishes, there will not be a service. In honour of Arthur, memorial contributions may be made to Ponoka and District Health Foundation (Palliative Care), Red Deer Hospice Society or the Alberta SPCA.
