HOW ALBERTA WILL REOPEN
Early actions
Businesses and services must follow two-metre distancing rule.
May 1: vehicle access to parking lots and staging areas on public land and parks will open.
May 1: access to boat launches will open in select provincial parks.
May 2: golf courses can open, with restrictions including keeping clubhouses and pro shops closed.
May 4: ahs will begin resumption of some scheduled, non-urgent surgeries.
May 4: dental and other health-care workers such as physiotherapists, speech language pathologists, respiratory therapists, audiologists, social workers, occupational therapists, dietitians and more will be allowed to resume services.
May 14: reservations open for campgrounds at some alberta parks, starting June 1 onward.
Stage 1: May 14
Two-metre distancing rule remains in effect.
■ Dine-in restaurants, cafés, lounges and bars at 50 per cent capacity.
■ Retail businesses such as clothing, furniture and bookstores.
■ Some personal services, such as hairstyling and barber shops.
■ Museums and art galleries.
■ More scheduled surgeries and dental procedures.
■ Physiotherapy, chiropractic, optometry and similar services.
■ Daycares with limits on occupancy.
■ Summer camps with limits on occupancy. this could include summer school.
■ Some additional outdoor recreation.
Stage 2
Timing to be determined by success of Stage 1.
■ Potential K-12 schools with restrictions.
■ More scheduled surgeries, including backlog elimination.
■ Personal services such as artificial tanning, esthetics, cosmetic skin and body treatments, manicures, pedicures, waxing, facial treatments, massage and reflexology.
■ Some larger gatherings (number of people to be determined).
■ Movie theatres and theatres, with restrictions.
■ Fully reopening all businesses and services, with limited restrictions.
■ Permitting larger gatherings (number of people to be determined).
