Police are searching for a violent sex offender — who previously served time for voyeurism, assault and rape — after he allegedly watched a 12-year-old girl through her bedroom window on Thursday, while conducting a sexual act.

Calgary police said the man was seen at a residence located in the 4600 block of Hubalta Road S.E. where he allegedly watched the young girl. They think he was involved in two similar incidents in April.

The man, who police believe to be Keegan Troy Spearchief, 34, has a long record that includes the violent rape of a 17-year-old girl, aggravated assault of his then common-law girlfriend and other counts of sexual assault, violence, break-ins and voyeurism.

Spearchief served a four-year sentence after raping a teenage victim at knifepoint. He was 17 at the time and the first youth in Canada sentenced as an adult under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

In jail, Spearchief refused court-recommended therapy and the National Parole Board ruled he was at risk to reoffend.

He later served a three-year sentence after assaulting his common-law partner and her mother before brandishing a knife at police officers. At the time, Calgary police labelled him an “uncontrolled sexual deviant.”

Authorities have not been able to locate Spearchief, who also goes by the name Keegan Eagle Child, after Thursday’s incident. Warrants have been issued for his arrest.

Police describe Spearchief as Indigenous, 6’5” tall, approximately 180 pounds, and with long hair and brown eyes. He has a tattoo on his left shoulder of a “throwing star.”

Anyone with information about the individual is asked to call the police non-emergency number 403-266-1234 or submit tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.calgarycrimestoppers.org
