A HOME THAT MAKES LIFE A LITTLE EASIER

Three-bedroom Bristow in Wolf Willow puts convenient living first for busy families

- JOSH SKAPIN

Families are busy. So when time-saving conveniences are built into the design of a home, that can go a long way.

Considerations to make life a little bit easier are featured in the Bristow, a three-bedroom, 1,578-square-foot, front-drive single-family home by Morrison Homes that’s presented as a show home in Wolf Willow. It’s also available in the north Calgary communities of Livingston and Symons Gate.

After an outing to the grocery store, it can sometimes be a pain having to march bags of food through the house.

This floor plan creates a shortcut. The attached garage steps into a mud room that meets up with a walk-through pantry. This creates a direct path from the trunk of the car to the kitchen.

Another convenience can be found off the master bedroom. Rather than separate entrances to the walk-in closet and ensuite, the two are connected.

The walk-in closet is accessed on the opposite end of the ensuite. This creates one fluid space, supporting a quicker and smoother start to one’s day.

The ensuite boasts two sinks beneath separate mirrors and a standalone shower with a glass door.

For people with their hearts set on a spacious master bedroom, this home fits the bill. The floor plan says it’s 12-foot-eight by 17 feet in one section and 15 feet in the other.

These generous dimensions are extended through a show home that uses multiple pieces of staging furniture, demonstrating the abundance of space that remains.

The secondary bedrooms are on opposite ends of the second floor, with one adjacent to the master, and the other along the rear-facing wall.

Both secondary bedrooms have windows facing one another on walls of their respective outward corners.

This creates the effect of one large window and saves space on the walls for other things, such as framed photos and art.

Another convenience displayed in this show home is the model’s ability to add a side entrance, creating a direct connection to the basement.

For people who choose to develop the basement for a member of the extended family or a rental tenant, this makes it easy for that person to come and go without needing to cross the main level.

The main floor stars a central L-shaped kitchen with bulkheads, cabinets with glass fronts, and a striking full-height backsplash that elevate the visual interest of this space.

It features stainless steel appliances, including an over-the-range microwave, and an island with a sink and extended eating bar that seats three people.

The kitchen is part of a sunny open concept design that connects to a rear-facing great room and dining area.

These gathering spaces benefit from well-sized windows with views of the backyard.

Privacy is another consideration in the design of this home. The positioning of the foyer restricts views of other ends of the main floor.
