LUNA NECTAR OBSIDIAN VOLUMIZING AND ANTI-POLLUTION HAIRJELLY

They say: A potent clarifying treatment for hair from the Canadian brand Luna Nectar that uses charcoal to magnetize buildup and impurities out of hair, leaving voluminous shiny hair and a healthy scalp.

We say: Our tester used this product as directed, in place of shampoo. Suitable for use once per week, she rubbed the black “jelly” into her scalp and left it on for five minutes before rinsing it out. The non-foaming formula rinsed well and left hair feeling soft, clean (if a bit dry) and shiny.

EMBRYOLISSE

LAIT-CRÈME CONCENTRÉ

They say: A “multi-function care” cream that’s suitable for all skin types and features ingredients like shea butter, beeswax, aloe vera and soy proteins. This product can be used as a day-or-night hydrating cream, a makeup primer, beauty mask, makeup remover, after-sun care product and aftershave.

We say: Our tester liked the lotion consistency, and soft floral scent of this product. A small amount was all that was needed for full-face coverage. The cream applied easily, absorbed nicely and left a “protective barrier” on skin. Skin looked immediately more hydrated, smooth and glowing after application. $39 | Beauty.shoppersdrugmart.ca

They say: Soothing eye patches from the French brand Klorane that sees cornflower used to “alleviate signs of fatigue and provide freshness.” Formulated for “the most sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers,” the eye patches are hypoallergenic.

We say: These eye patches aren’t goopy or too slick. Offering a slight cooling sensation, our tester noted they were comfortable to wear and didn’t leave behind a pool of messy product. Instead, the skin-smoothing ingredients absorbed well and left the eye area feeling and looking more soothed.
