BISHOP CARROLL HIGH SCHOOL

Hey guys, it’s Precious here. And if you didn’t already know, I’m a senior in high school and due to the coronavirus, the class of 2020 is ... unfinished.

If you know me well, you would know that I’m a huge fan of coming-of-age movies. And, honestly, I always thought that high school and especially my senior year would be that fist-raising, boom box-blasting, top-of-the-rollercoaster, no-stopping musical number.

Instead, I’m home and you are, too, hopefully.

You know what? Maybe senior year wasn’t exactly like High School Musical 3. But we still got to run through the halls, drink an excessive amount of iced coffee, dance to our favourite songs like no one else was watching, and spend almost every day with people who taught us more than school ever could. No, high school definitely wasn’t a movie. It’s far too full of bloopers, retakes and insane plot twists no one can handle. But it’s definitely one story to tell. So, this is my thanks to all of you who have been a part of writing mine, whether you’re a part of the friend group I spent literally every day with, the teammates who always had my back whether on the pitch, the podium or on the stage, or even if you’re the person I just said “hi” to once in the hallways ... It seems like only yesterday that I began my journey here as a student. I can’t even begin to thank all of you who have become not only my friends, but my family. A special thanks to my TA for always having my back and to my parents, who have sacrificed everything for me to chase my dreams. As well, a thank you to all our frontline workers. You are our true heroes. Congratulations, Class of 2020! ... Adventure is out there.
