Man dies after suspected stabbing in southwest

One man is dead after a suspected stabbing in the city’s southwest early Thursday.

Calgary police received a call at 2:50 a.m. about a man collapsed in the 5500 block of 2nd Street S.W. Officers found a man in medical distress with what appeared to be stab wounds. He later died of his injuries. Police have detained a person of interest at the Foothills Medical Centre.

The investigation continues.
