WOODS, Joan Rooney

Joan was born in Southport, England, raised in Liverpool and moved to Montreal in the 1950s where she worked as a secretary. She returned to the UK where she trained as a nurse and then to Edmonton to work in the pediatric ward at the Royal Alex until the mid 1970s. She then moved to Calgary as a private nurse. She was an excellent nurse providing meticulous care. Joan was very good with children, the elderly, and the disadvantaged. Generous & honest to a fault, she had no family but she has many friends who will miss her dearly. She spent her final years at the Southwood Care Centre where she was well tended. A memorial mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, on Wednesday, August 19 at 10am.
