Jeannie Thornton, of Calgary, AB, has gone to be with her husband Bertram "Harper" Thornton, on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at the age of 98 years. Jeannie lived a full and complete life. Her early years were spent on the homestead farm near Arrowwood. She met and married Harper in 1944 and they spent most of their married lives in Calgary. She worked for many years as the secretary of Knox United Church. Jeannie and Harper had no children of their own but had many nieces and nephews who they loved dearly, and will miss her. They also developed a special bond with Bill and Lorna Rennie and their children who considered Jeannie and Harper to be their grandparen­ts. Ryan, Stacey and Heather will miss their grandma Jeannie. Jeannie was predecease­d by her husband Harper, her parents, Frank and Mary (Minnie); sisters, Margaret and Alice; brothers, Arthur and Wilbert; and Lorna and Gillian Rennie. Graveside Service will be held at Queen’s Park Cemetery (3219- 4th Street NW, Calgary) on Friday, August 21, 2020. Please meet at the gate for 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a charity of your choice. Thanks to the staff at Intercare Brentwood for the kind care she received during her time there. She even survived a mild case of Covid-19 while in their care.
