Get a head start on holiday baking

Just freeze cookies, then warm slowly for that freshly baked taste

- ATCO BLUE FLAME KITCHEN

It's never too early to get started on holiday baking. Most baked goods can be frozen in an airtight container and thawed as needed.

You can even warm them in the oven for that freshly baked taste. Of course, it never hurts to make some “test batches” for yourself, too!

Our Honey Ginger Cookies are spiced and chewy without the intense flavour of molasses seen in traditional gingerbread.

Cream cheese helps to produce a soft, easily workable dough in our Cream Cheese Sugar Cookies. This is a great recipe for cutting shapes and decorating — a fun holiday activity for the kids!

Looking for a simple, last-minute holiday gift? Try our two-ingredient Candy Cane Bark.

Once you get the technique, it's easy to make variations using different types of chocolate and topping with your favourite candies, nuts, and/or dried fruit. ATCO Blue Flame Kitchen's column on healthy eating for busy families runs Wednesdays in the food section.
