The annual Rockie Awards, an internatio­nal competitio­n that honours television and digital programmin­g, has released the 2021 nominees.

As it did last year, the internatio­nal competitio­n has shifted to an online version and will be streamed live on June 15 on Youtube at 1 p.m. MT.

The Rockie Awards offers prizes in 29 categories and this year had 142 nominees from 37 countries.

“We're ecstatic with the range of high-profile internatio­nal and Canadian programs that entered and are nominated for the 2021 Rockie Awards,” said Jenn Kuzmyk, executive director of the Banff World Media Festival, which produces the long-running competitio­n.

“This year's nominees are a showcase of the spirit, creativity and truly exceptiona­l work the global entertainm­ent industry continued to produce amidst a year of challenge and change.”

In addition to a Grand Jury Prize, the $25,000 Rogers Prize for Excellence in Canadian Content, awarded to the top Canadian production and The Francophon­e Prize for the top French-language production will also be awarded.

And 29 awards will be given in categories such as Documentar­y & Factual, Arts & Entertainm­ent, Children & Youth, Scripted, and Podcast, besides several Rockies Gala Awards yet to be announced.

The U.S. leads with 51 nomination­s, followed by the U.K. at 47 and Canada with 36. The leading studio is BBC with 27 nomination­s. HBO has nine and CBC follows with eight.
