David Lee wrote “Running the Timber Slides.” He is a fifth generation son of the Ottawa Valley and a retired Parks Canada historian. He authored Lumber Kings and Shantymen: Logging and Lumbering in the Ottawa Valley (2006) and Great Forests and Mighty Men (2007). Donald B. Smith authored “Worlds

Apart.” He is professor emeritus at the

University of Calgary and taught Canadian history from 1974 to

2009. His publications include three biographies of Long Lance, Grey Owl, and Honoré Jaxon; two histories of the Mississauga First Nations, and a history of Calgary. He is married to art historian and curator Nancy Townshend.

Doug Cuthand wrote “Harsh Measures.” He is a journalist and filmmaker located in Saskatoon. He writes a weekly column for the Saskatoon StarPhoenix and the Regina Leader-Post and is a member of the Little Pine First Nation, where he is a Treaty Land Entitlement trustee chair and is on the economic development corporation board. Laurence B. Mussio authored “First Bank.”

He is a historian and management consultant. His latest work is

A Vision Greater Than Themselves: The Making of the Bank of Montreal, 1817-2017 (2016). In 2018, he will publish Whom Fortune Favours: Bank of Montreal and the Rise of Canadian Banking, 1817-2017.

Joseph E. Martin wrote “Titans.” He is the director of Canadian business history at the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto. He co-authored From Wall Street to Bay Street: The Origins and Evolution of American and Canadian Finance (2017) with C.P. Kobrak. He is also president emeritus of Canada’s History Society.
