Truc Nguyen

Nguyen is a Torontobas­ed freelance writer and editor, focusing on fashion, shopping and travel. For this issue, she wrote “Petal Pusher” (p. 16), about the revamp of Toronto floral studio May Flowers, and “Go With Gorp” (p. 22), a roundup of “gorpcore” clothing and accessorie­s. “I love the combinatio­n of fashion and function in the pieces we’ve featured,” says Nguyen.

Lauren McKeon

Toronto-based McKeon is a writer and the deputy editor at Toronto Life. In “The Fall of the House of Sharpe” (p. 48), McKeon tackles the downfall of Bridging Finance founders David and Natasha Sharpe. “Bay Street is fascinatin­g,” she says. “It’s full of big dreams, big stakes and even bigger personalit­ies—three things that can also open the door to big scandal.”

Niklas Wesner

Based in Hamburg, Germany, Wesner is an illustrato­r whose work has been featured in The New York Times. He created the dreamy opener for “Technicall­y Speaking” (p. 9), about how AI is impacting workplace communicat­ions. “I tried to give this modern topic some of the quirkiness of old sci-fi illustrati­ons,” he says.

“It reminds me of the covers of the books that my dad owned.”

Philip Cheung

Cheung is a Canadian photograph­er based in Los Angeles who specialize­s in portraits. His work has been featured in Vanity Fair and National Geographic. For CB, he captured Francis Davidson, co-founder and CEO of Sonder, for the cover as part of our “How I Made It” package (p. 30). “It’s always nice to photograph fellow Canadians out here in California,” he says.
