2 The Canadian Cycling Hall of Fame sees the official induction of Gord Fraser, Louise Lalonde, Marie-Hélène Prémont, Alex Stieda, Brian Walton and the men’s team pursuit squad who took bronze in London at the 1908 Olympics.

9-16 Hot racing. Really hot. The road world championships run on the roads of Doha, Qatar. Much of the action will be focused on the Pearl-Qatar, an artificial island in Doha Bay. If riders find things too warm, they might find solace in the fact that the world championships are in Norway next year.

13 In 1949, Pope Pius xii made Oct. 13 the feast day of Our Lady of Ghisallo, the patron saint of cyclists. The saint’s chapel is at the top of a climb called Madonna del Ghisallo, which is a fixture of the Giro di Lombardia (Oct. 2), the season’s final Monument.
