2 The Canadian Cycling Hall of Fame sees the official induction of Gord Fraser, Louise Lalonde, Marie-Hélène Prémont, Alex Stieda, Brian Walton and the men’s team pursuit squad who took bronze in London at the 1908 Olympics.

9-16 Hot racing. Really hot. The road world championsh­ips run on the roads of Doha, Qatar. Much of the action will be focused on the Pearl-Qatar, an artificial island in Doha Bay. If riders find things too warm, they might find solace in the fact that the world championsh­ips are in Norway next year.

13 In 1949, Pope Pius xii made Oct. 13 the feast day of Our Lady of Ghisallo, the patron saint of cyclists. The saint’s chapel is at the top of a climb called Madonna del Ghisallo, which is a fixture of the Giro di Lombardia (Oct. 2), the season’s final Monument.

30 Organizers of Pumpkin Cross are hoping for a return of 2015’s muddy conditions for the race in Maple Ridge, B.C. There will be more than a dash of Halloween fun at this event.
