Most rides, as much as they try to be welcoming to cyclists of all kinds, will attract a certain kind of rider. Fredericton’s Gravel Grind, which raises awareness and money for Special Olympics, is meant to be more about celebrating all kinds of cyclists. “The Gravel Grind first and foremost is not a race, but an event for people to ride their bikes in a non-competitive format,” said ride organizer Brian Mckeown. The routes include a mix of road surfaces and trails, and are meant to challenge participants enough that they’ll feel they’ve earned a post-ride beer.
