Race Face Next R36 $2,000

Race Face has been making quality mountain bike parts for decades, but it is still relatively new to the wheel game. When the company came out with its first set of carbon wheels the Next R, they performed well and were impressively durable. This past August, Race Face introduced the R36, its most aggressive and widest carbon wheel. The new hoops sport the boisterous Vault hubs and durable carbon construction similar to their predecessors, but come in a wider 36-mm internal width optimized for tires from 2.4" to 2.8" wide. Combined with their two-year no-fault guarantee, these wheels make for a great set of enduro hoops. ( raceface.com)

FSA Gradient Wider 29 $1,350

fsa’s Gradient line of components is aimed at the gravityfocused rider. The Gradient Wider 29 wheels come with a slick looking 30-mm-deep carbon rim and a 29-mm internal width. The full-alloy hubs are laced with 24 straight-pull spokes and come with a six-bolt disc mount. Six cartridge bearings keep everything spinning smoothly. A full tubeless kit is included. The Gradient Wider 29 are carbon rims that can take some abuse and fit loads of different sizes of rubber, all without breaking the bank. ( fullspeedahead.com)

DT Swiss M 1900 Spline 30 $735

Coming from a name synonymous with quality is the DT Swiss M 1900 spline 30 wheels. For their price, it’s going to be hard to find a better wheel. With a full alloy rim, DT’S 370 centre-lock hub and 28 cold-forged straight pull spokes, the M 1900s are prepared to take a beating. The 30-mm internal width will fit a wide range of tires, which makes these hoops very versatile. Weighing in at a little less than 2,000 g for a set of 27.5"-diameter wheels, they are quite light given the amount of abuse they are designed to take. If you are looking for a durable wheel that can crash through rock gardens lap after lap and even handle the occasional jump, check these out. ( ogc.ca)—mattstetson
