Showcasing Can Geo’s photo club
Caribou cross the ice road that stretches between the communities of Inuvik and Tuktoyaktuk in the Northwest Territories. The road — a.k.a. the Mackenzie River — is just a small part of the terrain the animals cover every spring as they make their way to their breeding grounds, an event many Inuvik residents drive out to see. This image won the “Canada’s North” category in Canadian Geographic’s 31st Annual Photo Competition. See the other winners at annual16.canadiangeographic.ca.
